Roast Top Sirloin Beef

W
ho said that you cannot have a special dinner at home when every restaurants are closed due to social isolation or physical distancing or community quarantine to flatten the curve of corona virus victims in the country.

Cooking top sirloin beef is one of the choices I made to not feel the effect at home. It is very easy to prepare. You can use also other cut of beef like eye of round and chuck roast and if you want the better one, the prime rib and tenderloin (just a little bit more pricey though) But due to lack of supply in different grocery stores right now, I just had this choice.

You can cook it according to your taste. It can be either rare, medium or well done. I chose to make the medium one. I just needed to use a thermometer. The time depends on the size of the beef that you use. I used 2.5 lb. Cooking it properly is very important to get a tender, juicy roast beef and have an enjoyable dinner.

What is needed:
  • A roast pan
  • Paring knife
  • 1 head Garlic /  1tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Dried oregano
  • 1 tsp Dried thyme
  • 2 tbsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Pepper
  • 2.5 lb Top Sirloin Beef

Instructions:

  1. Wash and season the beef with all the condiments. If using fresh garlic, you can cut small holes into the beef and put the garlic. It adds flavor.
  2. Once seasoned, you can keep it for some time to let the flavor goes into beef, while preheating the oven to 450 F.
  3. Make sure, the fat part is positioned side up on the rack which the fat helps keep the roast moist and juicy.
  4. Cook the roast at 450 F for 15 minutes and without opening the oven, decrease the temperature to 325 F until the internal temperature reaches your desired taste. I wanted it medium so I cooked it until 160 F according to the thermometer that I used.
  5. After you reached the desired temperature, take the roast out and let it rest on the counter with foil-covered before cutting it to let the juice back into the roast.
How to Make the Gravy

To make your roast more enjoyable, you can serve it with gravy. You can use the beef grease and build-up from the roasting pan. Just add water and once it is boiling add a tablespoon of cornstarch. Whisk it until it will become thickened.
This is just simple. Serve and enjoy it with a sprinkle of gravy!
