Beef Burger Steak with Mushroom Gravy Recipe

My biggest guilty pleasure food is hamburgers, but until now I have never enjoyed a homemade burger more than a burger I could get at a fast-food restaurant.  The recipe we're covering today is about making homemade burgers ala Jollibee burger steak style.  I have enjoyed Jollibee burgers and the burger steak but this recipe was a lot more enjoyable.  The burgers were so moist and juicy and the gravy was out of this world.  What makes the recipe even better is that it is cheap and easy to make, and the leftovers are equally as good.  The burger steak can be paired with rice or mashed potatoes, and the gravy goes nicely with either side option.  If you're a fan of the Jollibee burger steak I think you need to try this recipe out, because I think you will be surprised at how good this burger steak recipe is.

HOW TO MAKE A JUICY BURGER STEAK:

The first step you want to do is to take 2 pieces of bread and soak them in a 1/4 cup of beef broth for 3-5 minutes and then cut the soaked bread into small pieces.  You can also cut the bread into small pieces first and then soak the cut-up bread in the beef broth.  After the bread has soaked you will combine it in a large mixing bowl with the ground beef, grated onion (or chopped onion), egg and salt and pepper to taste.  Mix the mixture until everything is combined and then start making your patties by scooping out the mixture and forming it into patties.  When forming the patties make sure to lightly press your thumb into the middle of the patty, this will keep the moisture and juices in while the patty is cooking.

Once the mixture has all been made into patties, pour some oil into a pan on medium heat and start cooking the patties at about 3-4 minutes per side.  Make sure to not press down on the patties while they are cooking as this will allow the juices to escape and your burger will end up drier.  When the burgers are done place them on a rack or cover them in a paper towel to remove the excess oil and fat.  While the burgers are cooking heat up another pan on medium heat and cut 3 mushrooms into slices.  When the new pan is hot pour some oil in and place the sliced mushrooms in the pan and saute them until they are cooked.

Now it is time to make the gravy, start by heating a 1/4 cup of butter in a pot on medium heat then sprinkle 1/4 cup of flour and whisk/stir for 2-3 minutes.  Now slowly add the 2 cups of beef broth to the gravy while continuing to stir/whisk vigorously.  Add the mushrooms and some salt and pepper (to taste) and now pour the gravy over your burgers and side of choice.
